So it looks like Superman 64 won the poll. Thanks guys :\ I will be trying out doing video reviews this week so lets hope for the best. I will start after Thanksgiving because no one should have to play Superman ever... but especially on Thanksgiving.
Also, I will be setting up another poll for you guys shortly, so keep an eye out and remember to vote!
So here is the last part of the review on Barbie Horse Adventures: Blue Ribbon Race: not much has changed on my view of the game. It is a bit too difficult for the age group it targets, but not difficult enough to warrant a challenge. It really didn't age well, and to be honest the only reason it would be worth playing is to laugh at it.
My major problems were the horse's long invincible jump and the overall slow pace of the game. Certain things like the time trails were annoying but I feel the overall speed of the game is the biggest hindrance.
Now, don't take this the wrong way, but I feel if the speed was amped up a little then this would have made a decent kids game despite the other issues. To me, a good kids game keeps their attention and has nice visual. While I have my issues with how the game looks, it works for a kid.
Actually, the biggest problem for me is the music that plays through every event. It gets really annoying really fast and it loops constantly making muting the game feel like a reward.
So all in all, I would say play Barbie Horse Adventures: Blue Ribbon Race, but only if you enjoy people staring and wondering what is wrong with you.
Today is the last day you can vote for the next crappy game I will be playing this week. I should be able to put the finale to the Barbie game either today or tomorrow, so please keep an eye out.
In this video, you get to see gameplay from the new Call of Duty game. Apparently, one of the friendly soldiers decided to pack his pogo stick with him to war.
For some reason, while playing Megaman 2, the game was showing the next screen instead of the current one we were on making gameplay very...um...interesting.
This is from a match between my friend and I in Super Street Fighter 4. For some reason, the game decided to not only to teleport him in front of me but on top of that, face him the wrong way while he was trying to do an ultra that would have made him win! This is what we like to refer to as "robbery".
This is gameplay from a couple friends of mine playing the new Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. As you can see, the series still has some issues with buggy behavior. But if it's any plus, you can swim in this game!
For one, the whole thing moves so slow, even when you hold A to gallop. Then the difficulty kicks in and you have to literally plot out things to get 1st place on some races or search the entire area for all the coins and crap.
So here are how races work: You have to make 3 laps in a set time. The catch is you can't make the laps in time unless you collect the BARBIE balloons. You find one balloon for each letter and upon getting the last one your time is completely erased. So you literally have to save it for the last lap as each lap takes around 3 minutes and first place is 3 minutes. But damn does this horse move slow! It's like it's constantly stepping in crap it can't quite kick off. You could etch this game into the ****ing ground faster then you can play it.
The search missions are annoying because the graphic designers must have literally been horses because there is no sense of depth the entire time.
Pop quiz time: What here is flat?
Here is your answer:
Oh and one major beauty are the sprites used for the crowd.
Why is Benjamin Franklin and his twin brother watching me ride a horse?
It literally feels frustrating trying to go through this game. Based on the pacing I feel like girls really shouldn't have had to sit through this. If you beat this game as a child, screw the stereotypes you are a mega-gamer and female gamers' should use you as an example. No, all gamers should. I am near what I believe is the end of the game and it's only day two. Sadly, I don't know what I am going to do with myself after I finish this game. I will beat the game tomorrow and post my further frustration then, along with my verdict on whether it is a good game.
Oh an done more thing, the music is the same throughout the entire game. I literally put on The Dutch version of Barbie Girl (below) just so I could not go completely insane.
Sound: You know how sometimes a game will have a really interesting soundtrack that will pull you in? This game has that except that after it has looped for the 20th time you want to rip your ears off. Also the menu noises seem to have been made by someone completely different. Oddly enough the music being played feels like it belongs in an RPG.
Gameplay: Enough ignoring the game play. The controls feel weird at first, until you realize that the horse's head is up on the D-pad and its butt is down on the pad. After you realize that, you just have to get jumping down. So far I have had to go on missions where I walk around collecting things in order to meet a goal. I kinda got sidetracked and couldn't find some flowers then stammered around for a bit.
Graphics: I understand this is a Gameboy Advanced game, but why does the horse's head look like it's censored? Also, am I the only one creeped out by the fact that the horse's bum has more detail in it the Barbie's face. I also love the designers' choice to have 4 people standing and clapping but only use two different sprites and not even alter the color scheme. Oh ,and the black Barbie doll looked frightening.
Maybe the game will get better as I keep playing it....
This will be the first week of the ongoing series "Game of the Week" and this week's game is going to be Barbie Horse Adventures: Blue Ribbon Race. God help me, I hope it isn't as bad as I feel it will be.
